Goals
It is our goal to raise up a generation of leaders who are willing to work hard to acquire their education, not so that they can become rich and live easy lives, but rather so they can continue working hard all the days of their lives to bring about positive change for South Sudan.
Along with their college prep courses the students at Malualkon Secondary School and Leadership Academy will:
-Learn how to lead by serving others
- Learn how resolve conflict
- Learn how to organize and educate their communities
Our students in Malualkon, South Sudan will be responsible for educating their neighbors who have not had access to education. It is imperative that we provide our students with the best education possible so that they can educate others. We see our school as an educational well. We need to create a deep and healthy system in order to equip South Sudan for independence.
In order to do this we need to initially raise:
- $4,200 US a year for each teacher salary X 6 teachers is $25,200 US
-$8400 US a year for the headmaster salary
-$8000 for school uniforms
-$22,000 for books, blackboards, initial school supplies
Total $63,600 US for the first year
With this investment we can help equip a nation that has weathered oppression, war and genocide. An independent, educated and peaceful South Sudan benefits us all.
Testimonials
- ~ LBRSS Volunteer
"It has been inspiring working alongside this dedicated group of young men. They came here to America with nothing more than determination, faith and optimism and they have taught us all the true value of education. Our education is not only to better the quality of our own lives but to equip each of us to make our communities, our nation and our world a better place for everyone. The Lost Boys are servant leaders, they work tirelessly to access help for South Sudan while sharing their stories of survival that encourage all of us to never give up no matter how hopeless a circumstance may appear at the time. The truth of their message strengthens and encourages us to do the right thing even in the face of adversity. - Wendi Dwyer, active volunteer with LBRSS since 2006"
